Memorise Most of Number of Mobile Number World Record

An 18-year-old girl has set her sights on the Limca Book of Records after training her mind to recollect hundreds of mobile numbers.

Akshatha Swaroopa told Bangalore Mirror, “It takes about 10 seconds to grasp a number. I register these numbers in my mind forever. In a span of 3-4 hours, I can memorise as many as 200 numbers. I was able to develop this technique because of the resource group ‘Swaroopa’ headed by multifaceted teacher, sculptor and artiste Gopadkar.”

The Swaroopa Adhyana Kendra is a non-formal education centre located in Mangalore.

Gopadkar, founder of this institute, said, “Akshatha is just one among the several talents that we have developed in an attempt to bring in a revolution in the education system.”

Gopadkar is known for adopting children, especially from slums. and training them. Akshatha, daughter of Sidappa, a coolie, and Harinakshi, a housewife, has been associated with his group for the past three years. “She not only has a very good memory but is a talented singer, whose CD on learning music along with studies will be released soon,” Gopadkar said.

Akshatha had studied in a government school till Std X. She appeared for the PUC exam (arts) privately this year. She secured 62 per cent.

Gopadkar said, “After we introduced her to our study technique, she was able to score these marks by studying for just two days before each exam. We have developed a technique through which students can complete studying for the SSLC exams in a month’s time. This was demonstrated in a recently concluded camp in which 110 children participated. The method involves enjoying learning, not simply mugging up.”

In the next academic year, about 50 high school children who have quit regular school will be trained by 30 teachers.
Every student attaches ‘Swaroopa’, which means strength, to his or her name. The institute has given the world several wonderkids including Jatin Swaroop who can narrate the medicinal value of 150 herbs.

Gopadkar along with his wife Sumadkar, also a teacher, are working on several techniques and want to popularise their method of learning across the state.

Their five-year-old daughter, Adi Swaroop, has already mastered 70 out of the 450 songs that are part of the SSLC model.

Memory Technique:
Akshatha is enrolled in the Swaroopa Adhyana Kendra, which is a non-formal education centre located in Mangalore. Founder Gopadkar said that their technique is based on hypno-therapy. It allows a student to complete studies in a very short span. For instance, one can complete studying a language paper, including three revisions, in one day and answer the exam the next day.
